Recreation Programs Survey 2022 Results

The City solicited community input regarding recreation programs and senior housing at council’s request.  The survey was provided to the public in June on the City’s website.  The public was notified through announcements at multiple council meetings, recreation commission meetings, the July newsletter, utility bills, the City’s Facebook page and the City’s home website page.  The notifications were reposted throughout the month of July.  The attached schedules provide the results and are summarized below.

  • The most desirable program is youth baseball/softball, with youth soccer being second.
  • Most respondents would pay the fee necessary to cover direct costs for these two programs.
  • Most participants would participate if local sports leagues ran the City recreation programs.
  • Donations to help subsidize others or provide scholarships were mostly “maybe” with only 28.6% stating they would donate funds.
  • Donations ranging from $1 to $50 made up more than half of those who were willing to donate for others in the programs.
  • Paying for a bond to cover the cost of a public pool was not favorable by the participants.
  • Paying for a bond to cover the cost of a senior housing project was also not favorable.

Community participation in this survey is appreciated and the results will be used to assist in planning of future recreation program operations.
