Employment Application
Selection Process:
All applicants must complete a standard City of Escalon Employment Application form and any additional documents specified in the job announcement. Submit all materials to the Human Resources Department by the published deadline. Postmarks and faxes are not accepted.
Unsigned applications or those missing required documents will be considered incomplete. Do not replace any section of the application with "SEE RESUME."
Applications will be screened for minimum qualifications. If many applicants qualify, those with the most relevant and recent experience will be invited to the testing process. The city may reject any application or modify the selection process at any time.
Candidates in the testing process may be required to take a written exam. If many pass, only a percentage of top scorers may advance to the next phase.
Candidates who score 70% or higher on the oral exam will be placed on an eligibility list, ranked solely by their oral exam results. A practical exercise may be used to further assess skills relevant to essential job functions.
Top candidates from the eligibility list will be referred to the Department Head for consideration. All conditional offers require passing a pre-employment medical exam, drug screening, background and reference checks, and fingerprinting before final appointment. Sworn personnel must also pass a psychological examination.
