Recreation Commission

The Recreation Commission is an advisory board consisting of 5 members, appointed by the City Council and are seated for three year terms of office. The Commission provides advice and community perspectives regarding recreation services and programming for the residents and assist in the organizing of recreation programs both by policy and participation within the programs by being an active volunteer/member.

The Recreation Commission convenes regular meetings at 6:30pm on the first Wednesday of each month at the Escalon City Council Chambers at 2060  McHenry Avenue.

COMMISSION VACANCIES

The Escalon City Council is now accepting applications for:

Recreation Commission (3 Full Terms Available – Expiring 11/2027)

The Recreation Commission meets once a month on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.  Recreation Commissioners must be registered voters in San Joaquin County and must reside within the Escalon Unified School District, with no less than three members residing within Escalon city limits. Some duties of the Recreation Commission include:

  • Provide input on the recreation department regarding recreation activities, sports programs, and facilities that will help meet the needs of the community.
  • Provide advice and community perspectives regarding recreation services and programming for the residents, promote and stimulate public interest.
  • Gather community opinions, needs and perceptions to advise the recreation department.
  • Provide information to the community regarding available programs and facilities and encourage participation.
  • Assist in the organizing of recreation programs both by policy and participation within the programs.
